Booking.com is one of the world’s largest e-commerce companies and a leader in digital technology that connects travelers with the widest selection of incredible places to stay. With a mission to help people experience the world, Booking.com continually explores improved ways to discover and share the sustainability efforts of its lodging partners with those who search and select on its website. As part of this initiative, Bioscore provides Booking.com with the accommodations that have its certification and allow the end user to include a new selection criterion in the booking.
Booking.com has implemented a sustainable travel program to encourage the travel industry to act in a more environmentally friendly way and make it easier for travelers to choose sustainable bookings. Thus, Bioscore certified hotels are listed with the highest sustainability rating given by Booking.com. In addition to the
benefits of sustainable management, now also improves the positioning in this distribution channel and joins others with which Bioscore already works as Destinia, OntheBeach, Ecohotels or Bidroom, among others.
Booking.com shares the sustainability best practices of Bioscore’s clients so that the public can learn about the initiatives being taken by the establishments before making their choice. In this way, environmentally and sustainability conscious people have the opportunity to book their chosen hotel with the confidence that their visit will have a lower impact on the destination.
This alliance, which has been in the works since early 2021, has been designed with a vision of customer experience concerned about a more sustainable future. Victor Monzon, CEO of Bioscore, indicates that “for Bioscore, this collaboration with Booking.com is exceptional, because it allows us to grant the highest level of sustainability to the hotels certified by us, aligning us also with international certifications of great prestige such as EarthCheck or GreenKey. This is an achievement we have been working on for several years that gives us great satisfaction, not only because it aligns us with international certifications of the highest level, but also because it improves the visibility and online positioning of our hotels in the eyes of the consumer who chooses based on sustainability criteria”.
Booking.com states that, according to its metrics, 81% of travelers confirm that traveling sustainably is important to them, and that 70% of travelers are likely to book accommodation that applies environmentally friendly practices. However, 41% do not know how to identify sustainable travel options. This problem is solved through the use of this new program, which shows which establishments are eligible because they have been verified and meet the model sustainability criteria.
Bioscore leader in sustainability Bioscore continues to develop innovative projects in the tourism sector, helping more and more people and institutions to start and move forward on the path of sustainability. Thanks to its strategy of sustainable management system, it manages to position itself among the best valued certifiers at national and international level for the quality, simplicity and profitability of its digital services through its own software.
There are already more and more Spanish hotels and hotel chains that are being recognized with Bioscore certification, as well as different accommodations at international level. Bioscore recognition certifies the commitment of organizations to policies that are increasingly respectful of the environment and represents a new step towards a complete global sustainability management ecosystem.
In 2022, the Tourism Innovation Summit awarded Bioscore for its innovation as the best sustainable tourism project for the services provided to organizations on their path towards sustainability. This award is a recognition of the commitment to sustainable efficiency that Bioscore has assumed since its inception as one of its strategic axes. The growing concern for the defense of the environment by governments, companies and consumers makes necessary the development of certification systems
as a voluntary and regulated instrument aimed at protecting the environment.
